You know guys I think he's been on that train a long time. I just I have a feeling don't you I don't know if he's in ever get off of I think he saw on the train. He's crazy or the rails but has been going out for us for quite some time to think it got to feel the same concerns train wreck in slow motion he's trying to jump off but he should see kids like those close to go and I'm not quite up the grill yet I was Ozzie crazy dragon afternoon pat Barton here Jacoby from a couple roaches drop by any straw a little friend with him hey what a nice surprise you it's going and what's happened a brother Jerry Gordon the guitarist improper or chest right. Little while since you've been down here right it has been awhile since the last emir here who. A couple of minutes couple of years so openly or sand good goodies and a brother that's good to be here were you still living in the area are and I guess sir Ronald the moments now but nice technically still the area and so on your Royale so are you guys have a new album out here and I it is called crooked teeth and we are we're gonna talk about a couple songs to you just got back from the big festival only Iraq on the range. Yeah that was a thousand amazing time amazing possible. We actually first one of our songs called bar for greatness. We had the local high school band marching band come and do the song with us that they killed did they do such a great job and it was. Fun to watch them you know get all hyped up and crazy in but they still you know I kept under control and nice to know people or just kind of like. Blown away and and then and it's there was talk of the fest or should know wage idiots up he's all these agents are hidden going oh my god yeah. It was a kid it was a great moment did you have them up on stage which you've got Aaliyah Aaliyah holy geez yesterday 35 kids out of that fed its auto it's a big stage yet we have we cal walk and some stairs got so we did a rehearsal the day before innate thing you know we did this in rehearsal on the came up name. Found there's found their places in you know buried at a conductor out there and then they said hit it must do it in and there's great that if these kids did they seem like fans of your brand so. Like the first day we showed up they were all real kind of standoffish you know. At the rehearsals and even in the first I don't walk around here everybody in after the rehearsal. Like where rock and roll band like we go off on stage we got mad energy like I need you guys I want you guys feel free to just give buck wild. Like just go crazy I like target in the conduct bank conductor. I'm Mike came and I saw your videos online because they have they are marching to and it's like 200 plus people they just brought like a small version of what they do. Super talented they're like state champ. Then I was like. I need that energy like we wanna see you guys go off and so. The next tapes. It was like they just it went from zero hundredth game on how do they went off duty it was like right on the drop in the song and it looked like all their kit all the kids in the band's back broken the dislike a bar. Although we did not kill nobody man all the child while players and it was just it was such a great moment and and coming from I was in school band. From third grade Ted. A senior year high school you are yeah I played I played clarinet I Internet culture how to clarinet love loved it. Go. But just to have that element brought back into the fold appear coach it was kind of like almost a full circle moment for us you know and it was just it was such. I just want to turn around and watch them perform my you know but I got to. I the audience is there a video of this magnanimous so moment we I've seen a few clips but there's no like real video I think or well actually yeah we shot a ten camera shoot edit. All right Chris we're gonna put it out like as soon as possible hopefully we get edit edit this we can drop it like MC dismay at a loss and then there was such a great moment right on. So you got a new bomb crooked teeth let me ask the obvious question now what were his two title come from view YouTube have lovely ET's. Nice strain is his bottom ones. So we're doing your teeth are very nice Jacoby very nice he's he's got to get an embodiment occurred cricket team disease is a metaphor. Cricket chief misrepresents. Its human it's raw it's imperfect but perfect it's I'm ashamed. It's it's real. And it was so that's what this is about that's that this record is it's like. Taking down the front of what we want people to think about us. And just be real. You know and it's like for us that's what we always bring to the table. You know and it's and it's a trip because the album title means something different than the lyrics to the song this Lear's to disarm haven't. Crooked teeth represents something different within the song itself and so. It's it's one of those things that's right I love art you know what I love creating is that it's like you can takes 11 song can have a different meaning to ten different people. In a different and then a different way that they can relate to it. And I think that that's the beauty in music is that it's it's an individual thing you know it's for the listener and say yeah man I'm I'm I'm really happy proud of this record I think it's. I think this record will go down as a classic Popper a tracker Dave Buckner are extra Merck. And I hit it hit me out and he's like yeah oh man like you better buckle up you better be ready to you is I think this is one of your best ones yet. You know and and we created a lot of great art with Dave yeah and so is really cool to kinda have him here seven go hey man you guys nailed it on this yeah. And that was that was a that was those nights. I'm glad you made here the analogy between art and music like half like campaign team has totally. It's what you think it is whether it's how it affects you come in the same with the music of all is love that about music it and man. As as albums go how was this 12 record you know wasn't it more difficult less difficult to help the process they lose the most fun we've ever had in the studio seriously that was fun nice the and we see we we actually started. And our. Studio down in Sacramento and we are just from riding their demos. For about them you know a couple months. And then waste we started we said let's figure out who we wanna work with while we're working with people instead of like interviewing producers are. So we went and worked with. A few people Jason never again who helped us do more for greatness and then. Colin and rise. Who we wrote my medication whiff. Those guys were just energy was off the charts with them and it just reminded us of when we were making music and we didn't we had no cares we were just like making music tend to do it and have fun and not worrying about singles and whatever just making great songs. And we just knew from that moment debt and there was it was a unanimous it off pain all at once. Well I'll tell you though because I was like yeah well Arafat wanted to do inning ended gale like I'm not sure if it's like the right move. You know and Jerry was a psych steadfast always like guys like. Dees of the dudes like. These are the guys who need to be messing with because like you said it's like. Energy in the room was intense and yeah palatable you know and when we were creating. Are in music in that type of environment it's it's like you said it's fun yes then and they you know they come from different backgrounds. They they're not rock guys per say they they they'd they produce other types of music. And so I thought that and we all thought that would be valuable to. The sound of the record you know we are and we we've been doing this awhile we know what we like we know what sounds good to us and that the that philosophy was that. You get in there. Push ourselves to beat to beyond where we would normally go and then if it gets way too far we just really back into you know more proper objection so that was the idea and and I think we've. Pulled it off you go to be fair Jerry all of your albums are well produced they also because this one to me sounds. Particularly warm and sat in a relief sort of even more election. Then some of your other elf yourself looked as she's got that big old nasty big and lo and bounce it sounds expensive yet sounds just luxurious. Because it was an expensive one it wasn't that the color record was expensive but they did that that was the Collins philosophy was huge he said I like expenses sounds so we had a you know we've we've we're in a place that we could use a Neve board you know just the good stuff the good gear we used it but he had the studio. And then we kind of did some tradeoffs like studio wasn't that nice but haggard gear. And then we moved on to like a room are out this bill about this size six of us and basically to creating and do in the rest of the stuff it almost sounds like some of the low and was recorded analogue at first console war some of it yeah some of it but some that was also. Created so we'll show we play a song oh yeah please do let's play original game temple school with the next single pool. When you set the surgical. Had this is up Barre here sauce called American drains but before we get into it. You know it's this it's got a little bit of I guess socio political edge to it you know the course the lyrics are. Name me tell you they're just listen Danks all I could talk all day tumble on the face about this one man but just jam it is American dreams. That is new Papa Roach were talking to a Jacoby Jerry from opera which could have you guys here it's been awhile sweat it out in Sacramento babies could be our right yeah you get hit by lightning in Columbus, Ohio I guess I thought I was there about a lot eBay they kept what the first day of the festival. The storms came through when we saw these announcements there. They were evacuating in this the stadium and I'm like ha man come on like this weekend is like one of the biggest weekends of rock like let's do this now. And the next day I'm like you know looking at the weather and it's like righted more supposed to go on anymore it's 630. You're like a storm was gonna pass through a pass to early years they kicked everybody out remember her back everybody back in. We went on like an hour and a half play I think you mean but it made for a great night and the people were to celebrate man it was a it was a rock and roll party at. To the fullest of those listening a rock Hillary just like aftershocks are we got exactly maybe a little bigger isn't big dude I would Shia feelings there. It should say is giant stadium did and literally it's it's a soccer stadium here and so were on stage and we're looking now and every single seat is full so there's like 55000 people it was insane bizarrely got I'm and I'm like we less yeah maybe like fifty but. You know close to it and it's just yeah it was electric knows who school that many people at that tussle noticed how we play different that many Kia path tomorrow while. Speaking of aftershock or do you guys know what's going on with aftershock this year and you play I don't retire I'll tell I don't I I assume because you just did this here knock and you aftershock. I don't know you don't even know I don't it's possible that it is possible but it's also not possible Dahlia there if anything is possible. Why not here in word on any of the fans soccer just the day this guy October 21 and second is all I know soul soon happens you know note will be in where are what should be in Europe at that time you guys for a lot. Yeah I'm going to be in Europe actually were do an October November September October yeah I don't know where but anyway OK there. Get away. I know I'm here right now every time I call you you're usually urine. X Columbia there are some work some crazy plays you guys fly eight bird you know I laid a quarter. You know I man I gotta get it together got well since you guys spent so much time off -- let me ask you this what's what's typical day like when you're on the road what are we just hope it must be crazy. It's they kick in you know there's lots of different scenarios but if were on a tour. It's usually you wake up coffee work out. Lunch. Sound check. Mean angry. Maybe I interviewed you get food pizza to get ready for the gear you know warm up for the set. Play this rage and raped and then rental Chatham. Is that we're talking about this when you guys got your non on the air I've seen you guys both an action you've got people tugging on you in every direction when you're at things yes and you guys handle it really well that must get really crazy inside your case it's on his yeah they can get to kind of nuts but it. Yeah he just got I just get net he did I'm like I'll save it for one I get alone but it's like etched into managed. I'm like literally like sometimes when it's really busy and Maria and pulled it a much different directions I'm like. Pick urged I just can get five minutes. On the stair blank white wall and a parchment drool on myself for a couple of minutes and then. We're going to be all right and we're gonna do it again I ask is does this guy like stopped their reboot man you must still enjoyed doing doing live gigs and feed that energy IRS. Yeah we it's the end it is not miked whereas the other that's that we have so much fun on stage and you know not even just plain for crowds but also playing with each other to you know we've we've we have Arlo gags that we do on states each other in the fiscal. Always love the energy man of fun you live shows are always we just go off book who army hard for the bands that play after it's not happy not you know I mean and we don't know that we got to follow that when I go I agree you know we've gone not complain a couple of times. That it's are we did a show us either one time an electrical might do to follow that. Every time I'm like yeah you do it son bring it. Well let's sell it give back to the album crooked teeth totally got next well you know I'm looking I'm I've been listening to the alma not title for this is correct or not I'm feeling up a fairly positive vibe and optimistic or are you old little. We saw this in this album that are totally optimistic. And then there's our moments on this record that are just absolutely desperate you know remain an and I think that that duality and our economy really. Sums up life to me you know in sand tank and and it's good men because I feel like. I need my dark moments and my broken as to appreciate. The good things in my life you know and you not hit rock bottom a couple of times and that's got me to a space where my command was taken everything for granted like Wallach. All these great things in my life that I just totally ignored and wasn't paying attention to their right their right before me I just needed to get slapped in the face and feel some pain to then realize how what. What is so great about. I you know I had this discussion this several times about where where you get these. Inspirations from those dark times hammers things are good now you know your the most part man yeah I think things are pretty dang good did it. I tend to complicate things because. Sometime asthma suffers Selz softer so center bastard. You know saying well you know. You added it's just you try to be perfect all the time to stop this not possible you gotta be that way note to yeah to be an artist and unsanitary and tossed hustlers music came from man yeah how that would talk about that pain you know like that's that's. That's a that's it's therapeutic. So with all that in mind let's play job board for great -- yeah is this once super policy courted yell it's tough talk about the lyrics as well are you went in and I'll work with our friend Jason have again this is actually the first track that we finish to completion for the album. And we went in intentionally going we wanna go and create something that's very different than anything we've done before. And we went in and did that and Jason is a good friend of ours he used to sing an event called after midnight project took him on tour years ago. And dad and the band kind of fell apart anyway and in in that started producing any became wildly. Successful in the producer around. He's producing everybody from Madonna. Two Maroon 5 to Britney Spears tell that he's in the pop world but he's a rocker. You know and so we're elect AL what subs come in the studio and do so many suck off thank god come down. And he's like we sat down and emerges vital than before just check in and you know and he segment I gotta tell you guys like I'm I'm I'm black super nervous about this session on like bro like you're homey likely wipe trip and is that we know like you were the band when I was a kid like. I was geek and I'm our room listening to you guys and you know I never knew it never thought that I would. Be you know pretty soon track for you guys in and collaborating with you guys and he's like I still wanna mess it up more like no don't mess no let's go kill it. Ran out we sat down he's like all guys like check this out I got this new ballot Tron any sort of hit these he would he would tease like couple quarts or might. We need to use that like and it was just like this spontaneous moment where it's like check out this new keyboard and hit a court in a Mike are let's go that's amazing let's do that. And you know told a sort of beep box and some some some rich so what not and then Jerry wrote this like real kind of stay keep blues Eli. Guitar drop and then. You know I just wonder write something that was very positive. And but lifting. And and can make and we came out with a swan. Well don't you forget it if I can recommend just wanting may be a little more energy next time okay all right what did you just you know so we will stepping up our promise and others I know we're lacking perhaps that's fat man nice big ring you sound like added I sat. Ivan now are the best fat. As juicy ornate iron just below and do now we're kind of talking about mean Jerry I some round alleged areas. A drag your seat that was a song called border for greatness I love the lyrics and music I think there should be one your singles yes it sounds. C we will know that's the goal yet where I think in well American dreams is next and then after that. Probably. Periscope. You just kind of mellow or track on the record and then wrap we'd really like to wrap it up with what portray this because I think it just kind of kicks out a different. We always seem to like when we come with something different like back in the day when we wrote scars that I am brought to the table is very different. But it's like when more bold and adventurous like that and the band really believes in it. And we go out term station we play it like we meaning it and we love it and we believe it it translates and that's one sometimes we have our greatest successes is one word. Well we're completely ready did fail because that site you either the fans are gonna love or hate it but we love it yet you know once and sometimes those moments are great. Well I think this is an album we believe meaning radio I think we're gonna be living with this album for her eighteen months or two years and seems like I'll be awesome there'll be amazed eggs lot of good songs the more you listen to the more you rule awarded a site been listening to it now. I think three times it just it's getting better better call it to grow what. So much shell isn't so much grow as my friend. And get Jacoby skating derogatory ten. Strauss Qaeda are read this to your quick my wife. Fairly she's back on listening. And she says and I said some of obvious offers bastard she tech she said selfish bastard pop pop. We're listening amber extend my three year old son we're listen and embraced and looked at me and said no he's over China. I think it's -- Obama that was taco ball is vulnerable is the way we teach younger brother when dad's gone my door you all right -- -- that ballet which is this karma for guys she seemed like you're all the -- base you can -- killer no amount and a lot of road shows this year and there will be out there good luck to you man yeah will be back around Sacramento dude let's do some to get the name of the Iraq. Hey Jerry and it's called we thank you Yasser drop and yeah thank you so much for apple has now we appreciate you guys we love Narnia rap when the Sacramento good to see Jacoby insurers from Papa Roach were back in on the cigarette there.
